Charge Air Control
Charge Air Control is a boost control strategy used at the higher ranks of drag racing where big cubes, big turbo and ever bigger boost are the game's name.
Where conventional external wastegates are fitted to the hot side of a turbocharger system to allow exhaust gas to bypass the turbine wheel, chard air control is a valve fitted to the cold side of the turbocharger system. By modulating a controlled bleed on the cold side, you benefit from a more precise and direct control of the boost available to the engine, as well as can focus manifold design on turbine priority and efficiency.
