The Compressed Gas BoostGate50 takes Turbosmart’s award winning electronic BoostGate and simplifies the control system with a diaphragm style actuator built specifically for use with Compressed Gas / CO2 boost controllers. In addition to a custom high pressure Nomex diaphragm the Compressed Gas BoostGate50 has integrated “fill and spill” solenoids for seamless control integration.

Unlike a traditional external wastegates, which bypass exhaust gas around the turbine housing to reduce turbocharger shaft speed and effectively, boost levels – Charge Air Control is a controlled bleed of the compressed air on the cold side of the turbocharger system (ie boost). Mounted to the charge pipe, the Compressed Gas BoostGate50 can be used to modulate boost pressure directly, rather than the indirect method of traditional hot side boost control.

Charge Air Control is specifically suited to applications like drag racing where turbocharger specifications have already been optimized and the turbine housing is not a limiting performance factor (ie engine pressure ratio’s below 1). Turbosmart BoostGate’s use a zero offset butterfly-styled valve that enables incredible resolution, enormous flow and the kind of boost control required to deliver the perfect pass, every time.
