Held once again at Sydney Motorsport Park, the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge brings together teams from Australia and around the world to chase a single goal: the fastest possible lap. There's no wheel-to-wheel racing here, just one car, one driver, and the clock, across six action-packed classes.
WTAC 2026 drew one of the biggest crowds in the event's history, and while a late change in the weather cut Sunday's Superlap Shootout short, the times set across the weekend still produced some of the closest, quickest racing WTAC has seen.
For Team Turbosmart, it was a standout weekend. Turbosmart-turbocharged cars were on the podium in every one of the six classes on offer: Pro, Pro Am, Pro Open, Open, Clubsprint and Tuner. That's eight podium finishes in total, including three outright class victories.
A LAMBORGHINI GATECRASHES THE PRO CLASS PODIUM
Most of the Pro Class field runs purpose-built tube-frame specials. Alex Rullo and Rullo Motorsports brought something different: a Lamborghini Gallardo. Running twin Turbosmart TS-1-7275C-VB096E turbochargers, the V10-powered exotic put in a 1:22.4410 lap for 2nd place in one of WTAC's toughest categories.

DREW HALL AND CRD CONQUER THE PRO AM CLASS
Drew Hall and the Croydon Racing Developments R34 Skyline made the Pro Am podium in 2025. This year, they went one better. A 1:26.3790 lap on a Turbosmart TS-1-7880C-VB096E turbocharger was enough to take the class outright, a well-earned step up from last year's runner-up finish.

NATHAN MORCOM CHASES DOWN 2ND IN THE PRO OPEN CLASS
WTAC veteran Nathan Morcom brought the Global Aircraft Services Evo back sharper than ever. Running a Turbosmart TS-1-7880C-VB096E turbocharger, he improved on his 2025 result to lap Pro Open in 1:22.2850, good enough for 2nd in a field that also produced a new class record.

DARREN BISHOP RULES THE OPEN CLASS AGAIN
Darren Bishop won Open Class in 2025. In 2026 he did it again, this time on the back of a Turbosmart TS-2-6466B-VB082E turbocharger. A 1:27.4810 lap was enough to defend the title and make it back-to-back wins for the Evo 7.

JAMIE MCGLOIN MAKES IT A TURBOSMART 1-2 IN THE OPEN CLASS
Jamie McGloin gave the Global Aircraft Services camp a podium in two classes on the same weekend. His OG GASEVO ran a Turbosmart TS-1-7880C-VB096E turbocharger to a 1:31.0170 lap, good for 2nd in Open Class and a nice companion result to Nathan Morcom's run in Pro Open.

MICHALSKY GOES BIGGER AND FASTER TO DEFEND THE CLUBSPRINT CLASS
Alex Michalsky went up a turbo size for 2026, and it paid off. Stepping up to a Turbosmart TS-2-6466B-VB082E on the Plazmaman Evo 6, he defended his 2025 Clubsprint crown with a 1:29.9280 lap, quicker than the record-setting time he won it with last year.

JIMMY ASSAAD TAKES 2ND IN THE CLUBSPRINT CLASS BY JUST 0.6 SECONDS
Turbosmart-turbocharged cars locked out the entire Clubsprint podium in 2026, and Jimmy Assaad's ERS Performance Evo 6 made sure of it. Running a reverse-rotation Turbosmart TS-2-6262B-VR082E turbocharger, Jimmy crossed the line in 1:30.5370, just 0.609 seconds behind the class winner.

JOHN NGUYEN'S SUPRA MUSCLES INTO 2ND PLACE IN THE TUNER CLASS
John Nguyen brought the Sydney Composite Ospire Toyota Supra into the mix, running a Turbosmart TS-2-6466B-VB082E turbocharger to a 1:38.0010 lap and 2nd place, a strong showing in the field's most accessible category.

Eight podiums. Six classes. Three class wins. WTAC 2026 was one of the strongest results Team Turbosmart has put together at Sydney Motorsport Park, with TS-1 and TS-2 series turbochargers on the podium in every single class on offer. Congratulations to every driver, team and crew who got their Turbosmart-turbocharged car onto the podium this year. See you all again in 2027.
